A home visiting GP in London is not just for emergencies. For patients who are housebound, elderly, recovering from surgery, or living with conditions that make regular travel to a surgery impossible, ongoing GP home visits provide continuity of medical care in the place where you feel most comfortable — your own home. At Clinique Alpa, Dr Mitesh Parmar provides regular home visiting GP services across London, combining the clinical depth of private general practice with the convenience and compassion of care delivered at home.
Does a GP Do Home Visits in London?
NHS GPs are increasingly reluctant to perform home visits. Many practices now limit them to genuinely housebound patients and have replaced routine home visits with telephone consultations. For patients with complex medical needs — multiple medications, chronic conditions, mental health problems alongside physical illness — a telephone call is not an adequate substitute for a face-to-face assessment by a doctor who knows you.
Clinique Alpa fills this gap. Dr Parmar provides both one-off urgent home visits and regular scheduled visits for patients who need ongoing GP care at home. This might be weekly, fortnightly, or monthly — whatever frequency is clinically appropriate and practically helpful for the patient and their family.
Private GP Home Visit London: What It Costs
Individual home visits are priced from £250, with regular visit packages available at reduced rates for patients requiring ongoing care. We will discuss pricing transparently at the outset — there are no hidden charges, and the cost includes the full consultation, examination, prescriptions, and any paperwork such as referral letters or fit notes.
From Our Practice: Ongoing Cardiac Monitoring at Home
We recently reviewed the cardiac investigation results for a patient with known atrial fibrillation who had been found to have an ejection systolic murmur during a routine check-up. The echocardiogram and ECG had been performed at North Middlesex Hospital and showed reassuring findings overall — sinus rhythm at 85 beats per minute, an ejection fraction of 55 to 60 per cent, normal ventricular size and function, and no significant valvular abnormalities. However, the echo did identify a dilated aortic root with proximal ascending aorta dilatation — a finding that requires ongoing monitoring.
For this patient, who was already on apixaban for anticoagulation and amlodipine for blood pressure, the clinical picture was stable but required careful surveillance. A home visiting GP who understands the cardiac history, knows the investigation results, and can monitor for any change in symptoms — new breathlessness, worsening palpitations, chest pain — provides a safety net that a different locum every time simply cannot.
This is the value of continuity. When Dr Parmar visits this patient at home, he already knows the dilated aortic root is there. He already knows the medication list. He can detect subtle changes that a doctor seeing the patient for the first time would miss entirely.
Who Benefits from a Home Visiting GP?
Regular home visiting GP services are particularly valuable for elderly patients with limited mobility or frailty, patients with chronic conditions requiring ongoing medication review, patients with dementia or cognitive impairment, patients recovering from surgery, stroke, or hospital discharge, patients with severe mental health conditions including agoraphobia and depression, patients receiving palliative or end-of-life care, and patients living alone with no support to travel to appointments.
Integration with Alpa Care Domiciliary Services
For patients who need both regular GP oversight and daily carer support, the combination of Clinique Alpa’s home visiting GP service and Alpa Care’s CQC-registered domiciliary care provides a complete package. The doctor and the carers work together, sharing information, adjusting care plans, and ensuring nothing falls through the gaps. This integration is our unique selling point — and it directly benefits the patient.
