We recently saw a young patient who presented with vulval itching, painful urination, and a strong-smelling foamy urine alongside vaginal discharge. The initial assumption might have been a straightforward UTI — but on examination, it became clear that the patient had both a urinary tract infection and vaginal thrush that had developed secondary to a recent course of antibiotics for a different condition.
