We recently cared for a patient who was experiencing severe insomnia — sleeping only two hours per night — secondary to anxiety and grief following the death of her sister. The sleep deprivation was compounding her existing lower back pain and left-sided sciatica, creating a cycle of pain, exhaustion, and worsening mental health that was impossible to break without medical intervention.
