What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable gels used to restore volume, smooth wrinkles, and enhance facial contours. Most modern fillers contain hyaluronic acid (HA) — a substance naturally found in your skin. When injected, they plump the area and stimulate collagen production.

Common Treatment Areas

  • Lips — Adding volume, defining the border, correcting asymmetry
  • Cheeks — Restoring youthful contour, lifting mid-face
  • Nasolabial folds — The lines from nose to mouth
  • Marionette lines — Lines from mouth to chin
  • Jawline — Definition and contouring
  • Chin — Projection and balance
  • Under eyes — Hollow tear troughs
  • Temples — Restoring lost volume

Types of Fillers We Use

At Clinique Alpa, we only use premium, CE-marked products:

Juvéderm (Allergan)

  • Smooth, natural results
  • Range of viscosities for different areas
  • Lasts 9-18 months depending on product

Restylane (Galderma)

  • Excellent for fine lines and lips
  • NASHA technology for natural integration
  • Lasts 6-12 months

Sculptra (Galderma)

  • Poly-L-lactic acid (not HA)
  • Stimulates your own collagen
  • Results develop over weeks, last 2+ years
  • Ideal for overall facial rejuvenation

What Happens During Treatment?

  1. Consultation — Discuss goals, assess facial structure, take photos
  2. Planning — Mark injection points, agree on treatment plan
  3. Numbing — Topical anaesthetic applied (most fillers also contain lidocaine)
  4. Injection — Using fine needles or cannulas
  5. Aftercare — Ice, avoid makeup for 12 hours, no strenuous exercise for 24 hours

Treatment takes 30-60 minutes. Results are immediate, though mild swelling may last a few days.

Safety: Why Doctor-Led Matters

Fillers are medical procedures. In the wrong hands, complications include:

  • Vascular occlusion (blocked blood vessels)
  • Infection
  • Asymmetry
  • Lumps and nodules
  • Skin necrosis (rare but serious)

At Clinique Alpa, all aesthetic treatments are performed by Dr Mitesh Parmar, a qualified GP with Level 7 training in aesthetics. This means:

  • Full understanding of facial anatomy
  • Ability to manage complications
  • Medical-grade products only
  • Proper sterile technique

How Long Do Results Last?

  • Lips: 6-9 months
  • Cheeks: 12-18 months
  • Nasolabial folds: 9-12 months
  • Sculptra: 2+ years

Results vary based on metabolism, lifestyle, and product used. Top-ups maintain results.
