Doctor led and managed live in care · With Alpa Care

Live in care, led by doctors.

Staying at home, with a carer living alongside you. A doctor from our team carries out the initial care assessment, carers from Alpa Care deliver the live in care, and our doctors oversee it.

If you would like, a Clinique Alpa GP can also visit regularly at home.

Alpa Care Ltd

The live in care

Our sister care service. A carer lives in the home and helps with daily life, by day and with someone there at night.

Registered with the Care Quality Commission for personal care.

Clinique Alpa

The doctors

The same family team of doctors. A doctor carries out the initial care assessment.

Regular private GP visits at home can be added, weekly, monthly or every two months.

Your own home, your own pace.

The favourite chair, the garden, the neighbours, the evening walk. Live in care keeps the ordinary things that make a day feel like yours.

Care is done with you, never to you.

Day to day

What a live in carer helps with.

Every care plan is different. These are the things carers most often help with.
  • Personal careWashing, dressing and getting ready for the day, at the pace the person chooses.
  • Medicines supportHelp with medicines as agreed in the care plan, recorded at every step.
  • Meals and drinksShopping, cooking favourite meals and keeping an eye on eating and drinking.
  • Getting aboutSafe moving around the home, walks, and help with mobility aids already in use.
  • CompanyConversation, hobbies, outings and keeping in touch with friends and family.
  • Running the homeLaundry, light housework and keeping the household rhythm going.
  • AppointmentsGoing along to appointments and keeping the family informed.
  • Someone there at nightA carer who sleeps in the home, so nobody is alone overnight.

Live in carers are not nurses, and nursing tasks are outside the service. Medicines support follows what is agreed in the care plan.

How care is arranged

Four steps, one conversation at a time.

  1. Talk to us

A first conversation about what is happening now, what worries you, and what the person wants from each day.

  2. A doctor assesses

One of our doctors carries out the initial care assessment with the person and the people who matter to them.

  3. A care plan is agreed

Needs, routines, risks and wishes are written into a care plan, and you know what it will cost before care starts.

  4. Your carer moves in

A carer is chosen for the person and their household, and care begins. GP visits can be added at any point.

Medicines

Complex medicine routines

Several medicines at different times of day, with doctor led oversight of how they are supported in the care plan.

Home again

Coming home from hospital

A plan agreed before discharge so the first days at home feel safe and settled.

Language

Turkish speaking support

Care can be arranged with Turkish spoken. Ask us about other languages.

A GP who comes to the door.

Some families add a private GP visit on a regular pattern: weekly, monthly or every two months. The doctor sees the person at home, talks with the carer, and keeps the family in the picture.

Questions, answered plainly

Live in care questions.

What is live in care?

A professional carer lives in the person’s own home and supports daily life: personal care, meals, medicines as agreed, company and running the household. It is an alternative to moving into a care home.

Who provides the live in care?

Alpa Care Ltd, our sister care service, provides the carers. It is registered with the Care Quality Commission for personal care and has its own website.

Is a doctor involved?

Yes. The initial care assessment is carried out by a doctor from our team. After that, care is delivered by carers. If you would like ongoing medical input at home, regular private GP visits from Clinique Alpa can be added as a separate service.

Are the carers nurses?

No. Live in carers provide personal care and support with daily living. Nursing tasks are outside the service. If nursing care is needed, we will say so plainly and help you find the right support.

Does a live in carer stay awake all night?

No. A live in carer sleeps in the home and needs their own bedroom, a proper night’s rest and daily breaks. Someone is there overnight, but if a person needs help through most nights, the care plan has to allow for that, and we will talk it through with you at the assessment.

Where do you provide live in care?

Live in care is available across England. Regular GP visits from Clinique Alpa are available in London and the South East.

How much does live in care cost?

Live in care is from £1,650 a week. The exact fee follows the care plan, and you receive a written quote after the assessment. The initial care assessment by a doctor is £250. All care is privately funded. Call 020 8882 8088 to talk it through.

Can couples have live in care together?

Yes. One carer can often support a couple in their own home, depending on what each person needs. The assessment looks at both people.
