Our policies · Clinical decisions

How our doctors make clinical decisions.

Clinique Alpa is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Every appointment starts with a clinical assessment by a GMC-registered doctor, and every decision that follows is the doctor’s, made on the basis of that assessment and UK clinical guidance.

The principle

Assessment first, always.

Any advice, referral, letter or treatment decision is made by the doctor on the basis of a clinical assessment and UK clinical guidance. Our doctors do not provide any treatment on demand, and booking an appointment never guarantees a particular outcome.

If a doctor considers that a treatment is appropriate, they will discuss it with you during your appointment, explain the options honestly, and agree the next steps with you. Equally, if the safest answer is reassurance, a period of monitoring, or a referral elsewhere, that is what we will say.

In practice

Three commitments we work to.

01

Assessment comes first

Every appointment starts with a clinical assessment by a GMC-registered doctor. Nothing is decided before the doctor has listened to you and understood the clinical picture.

02

Nothing on demand

Our doctors do not provide any treatment on demand, and booking an appointment never guarantees a particular outcome. What you book is the doctor's time, care and honest judgement.

03

Honest limits

Some conditions require an in-person examination, baseline tests or ongoing monitoring before any decision can be made. Where that applies to you, we tell you plainly and direct you to the right appointment.

The standards

The same standards, wherever we see you.

Every clinical decision at Clinique Alpa is governed by the General Medical Council’s Good Medical Practice, including its guidance on remote consultations. The standard is the same whether the doctor sees you by secure video, by telephone or in person: a doctor must not make a decision they cannot make responsibly.

Some conditions require an in-person examination, and we will tell you if that applies to you.

Joined-up care

Working with your NHS GP.

With your consent, we send a short summary of your consultation, including any treatment agreed, to your NHS GP so that your records stay joined up. Clinique Alpa provides private healthcare and does not replace your NHS GP.

Questions

If anything is unclear.

If you have a question about how a decision was made in your care, please contact us on 020 8882 8088 or enquiries@cliniquealpa.co.uk and we will explain. If you would like a concern handled formally, our complaints page explains how we deal with complaints and how long each stage takes.
