Parkinson's care
Parkinson's live in care built around the clock the condition keeps
Mornings can be slow. Medicines have a time. Confidence on the stairs can change by the hour. Live in care fits itself to that day, in a way a 30-minute visit never can.
- Doctor led live in care
- Initial assessment carried out by a doctor
- CQC registered for personal care
- Family run, with our own private GP clinic in Palmers Green
Why Parkinson's suits live in care
Parkinson's asks for patience with tremor and freezing, respect for 'on' and 'off' periods, and medicines taken at the right time every day. Missing or delaying a dose can affect movement, mood and swallowing for hours. A live in carer is there for the slow morning and the better afternoon, and can keep the medication routine steady in a way that visiting care cannot.
Parkinson's is a particular focus of this service. Because Clinique Alpa is doctor led, the people who assess and plan care understand what several medicines taken at specific times mean in practice, how symptoms fluctuate, and where the line sits between a care task and a clinical one. We support the person; treatment stays with their neurologist, Parkinson's nurse and GP, and we work with them.

What a live in carer does for someone with Parkinson's
The carer's job is to keep life moving in the person's own way, on a day that may start late and finish early.
- Prompting, assisting and giving medicines at the times set out in the care plan
- Unhurried help with washing and dressing when stiffness is high
- Meals that are easier to manage, and attention to swallowing and weight
- A steadying arm on stairs, in the garden and on the way to the shops
- Encouragement with exercises or physiotherapy at home, if the person wants it
- Company through a day that can otherwise shrink to the house
- Noticing changes, such as more falls or new confusion, and reporting them
Medicines and the care plan
Most people with Parkinson's take several medicines at particular times. Our carers prompt, assist and give medicines within the scope of personal care, following a plan drawn up after the doctor led assessment and reviewed by the management team. Carers do not decide or alter medicines, or carry out nursing tasks, and we say so plainly rather than let a family assume otherwise.
How Parkinson's live in care is arranged
Speak to our care team
Call or request a callback. A manager will ask about the person, the home and what has become difficult, and tell you whether live in care is likely to suit. There is no obligation.
Doctor led assessment at home
A doctor from our team visits to assess health, medicines, mobility, memory, nights and daily routine. The assessment becomes the care plan. It also tells us what kind of carer this household needs.
Your carer is matched and care begins
We choose a carer for this household, not the next name on a list. You are introduced before the start date, and the care plan is reviewed once the carer has settled in.
Questions families ask about live in care
Can carers help with Parkinson's medicines?
They can prompt, assist and give medicines as set out in a personal care plan. They cannot decide or change medicines, or take on nursing tasks. Where the routine is complex, that is exactly what the doctor led assessment is for, and we will liaise with the GP or Parkinson's nurse where needed.
What if mobility changes through the day?
Then the day has to flex. A live in carer is there for the slow morning and the better afternoon, and can adjust help as symptoms change. A fixed visiting slot cannot do that.
Is this a nursing service?
No. Clinique Alpa is registered with the CQC for personal care. Nursing tasks sit outside our scope. Where a district nurse, GP or specialist team is involved, we work alongside them.
What happens if the carer is unwell or on leave?
Live in carers work in planned blocks with time away, and a second carer covers those periods. Wherever possible the same two carers alternate so that both know the person and the routine. If a carer is ill, the office arranges cover; you are not left to manage it yourself.
