Live in care · An optional extra

A GP at home, on a regular pattern.

Alongside live in care, some families choose a private GP visit at home weekly, monthly or every two months. A Clinique Alpa doctor sees the person, talks with the carer and keeps everyone in the picture.

What the doctor does.

Every visit is a full consultation, planned around the person.
  • Time with the personAn unhurried consultation at home, with an examination where it is needed.
  • A word with the carerWhat the carer has noticed since the last visit, and anything to watch for.
  • Next stepsTests or a referral where clinically appropriate after assessment, explained before anything is arranged.
  • The family kept informedWith the person's agreement, a short update to the people they choose.
  • Working with the NHS GPWith the person's consent, we share what matters with their own GP and specialists.
  • The care planAnything that should change in daily care is passed to the care team to update the plan.

Carers are not nurses and do not replace the doctor. Regular visits sit alongside the person’s NHS GP, never instead of them.

Seeing the same small team over months means changes are noticed early, and the person does not have to tell their story again each time.

About live in care ↗

Questions, answered plainly

About regular GP visits.

Who can have regular GP visits?

They are designed for people receiving live in care from Alpa Care, our sister care service, who would like a private doctor to see them at home on a regular pattern. Anyone in our area can book a single doctor home visit.

How often can the doctor visit?

Families usually choose weekly, monthly or every two months. The pattern is agreed with you and can change as needs change.

Is this part of live in care?

No. Regular GP visits are an additional service from Clinique Alpa, chosen and paid for separately. Live in care works without them, and you can add or stop them at any time.

How much does a visit package cost?

Ask for price. Package prices depend on how often the doctor visits, so we confirm the figure with you before anything is arranged. Single home visit fees are listed on our home visits page.

Which areas do you cover?

Regular GP visits are available in London and the South East, from our base in Palmers Green. Live in care itself is available across England.

Does this replace the person's NHS GP?

No. The person stays registered with their NHS GP. Our visits sit alongside that care, and with consent we keep the NHS GP informed.

What if something urgent happens between visits?

Call 999 in an emergency, or NHS 111 for urgent advice. Regular visits are planned care, not an emergency service. The carer follows the emergency plan in the care plan.
