What it is
An unhurried look at the thing worrying you.
Most lumps and skin lesions turn out to be harmless. Knowing that from a proper examination is different from hoping it, and the difference is what the appointment is for.
The doctor takes the history, examines the lesion, and explains what it is likely to be in plain language. Where treatment is medical, it starts at that visit. Where a procedure or a specialist opinion is the right answer, we write the referral.
What we do not do
We do not remove lumps here.
Clinique Alpa does not carry out the surgical removal of moles, cysts, lipomas or skin tags. If removal is what you need, you will be told so clearly and given a referral rather than an appointment we should not be offering.

What we assess
Common reasons to book.
Every appointment begins the same way: history, examination, and an honest account of what the finding means and what should happen next.
A new or growing lump
A lump under the skin is examined for size, mobility, tenderness and how it has behaved over time. Most are benign. The point of the appointment is to say which, and what should happen next.
A cyst that is causing trouble
A cyst that has become painful, inflamed or is changing is assessed properly, treated where treatment is medical, and referred where a procedure is needed.
Skin tags and other lesions
Long standing skin tags and other minor lesions are examined and explained, so you know what you are looking at and whether it needs anything at all.
A wound that is not healing
Wound review, dressing changes and stitch removal after a procedure carried out elsewhere, with same day assessment if a wound looks infected.
A second opinion
If you have already been seen and are unsure about the advice, a consultation gives you unhurried time and a clear written summary.

Do you remove moles, cysts, lipomas or skin tags at the clinic?
No. Clinique Alpa does not carry out surgical removal of moles, cysts, lipomas or skin tags. What we do is assess the lesion, explain what it is likely to be, treat what can be treated medically, and write a referral where a procedure is the right answer.
What happens at the appointment?
The doctor takes the history, examines the lesion or lump, and explains the findings in plain language. You leave knowing what it is likely to be, what would need to change for that to be reconsidered, and what the next step is.
