Is this right for me

Who it suits

Adults aged 18 and over who want advice on skin quality, including texture, dryness, uneven tone or marks left after spots. It suits people who want an examination and an explanation before any product or procedure is considered. A particular brand or a course of treatment is not the starting point.

Who should not have it

Anyone under 18, and anyone with inflamed, infected or broken skin until a doctor has assessed it. It is also the wrong visit if you need emergency care, or if you want a product recommended from a photograph alone. Some skin changes need a medical assessment rather than a cosmetic plan, and the doctor will say if that applies.

The consultation

A doctor looks at your skin in person at 466 Green Lanes, asks about your history, medicines and sun exposure, and explains whether a skin treatment, a different assessment, or no treatment is the right next step. Products are discussed by what they do. Nothing is started in the consultation, and you can decline anything that is later suggested.

On the day

An examination and a written note of what was discussed. You will be asked what bothers you and what you have already tried. The doctor may point out a mark that needs a different kind of check, separate from any cosmetic question. The length of any later treatment is not fixed at this visit.

Aftercare and risks

Aftercare

Aftercare depends on what, if anything, is later advised. If a procedure goes ahead at another appointment, you receive written advice on washing, sun protection, and the changes that should prompt contact with the clinic. If the plan is skin care only, or no treatment, that is written down as well so you are not left to guess.

Risks

Skin treatments can cause redness, swelling, bruising, pigment change and uneven results. Some marks need a medical diagnosis rather than a cosmetic procedure, and treating the surface can delay that diagnosis if it is missed. The doctor states the risks for the option being considered, and does not describe a treatment as painless or risk free.

  • If treatment goes ahead later, the fee is redeemed against the cost of that treatment.
  • The consultation is not the treatment. No filler, lines and wrinkles, skin quality, collagen stimulator or platelet rich plasma treatment is performed at this visit.
  • Any treatment is arranged later, after a cooling off period.
