Is this right for me

Who it suits

Adults aged 18 and over who want a doctor to examine lines of expression and explain what, if anything, could be considered later. It is also for people who have had treatment elsewhere and want that history reviewed before any further decision. The aim is a clear account of options, including the option of no treatment.

Who should not have it

Anyone under 18, anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding, and anyone expecting treatment on the day of the first consultation. It is the wrong appointment if you need emergency care, or if you want a named medicine or a particular change in appearance promised in advance. A consultation cannot make a procedure suitable when it is not.

The consultation

You meet a doctor at 466 Green Lanes. The doctor examines the lines at rest and when you move your face, asks what bothers you, and explains what a later treatment could and could not change. Risks, alternatives and the option of doing nothing are part of that conversation. Treatment, if it is appropriate, is arranged only after a cooling off period. You can use that time to decide, and you can decide not to go ahead.

On the day

A consultation in the treatment room at the Palmers Green clinic. Bring a list of medicines, including non prescription products, and say if you have had a reaction after a previous aesthetic treatment. Whether any later treatment is appropriate, and how long it would take, is agreed only after the examination. Photographs are taken only if you agree, and only for your clinical record.

Aftercare and risks

Aftercare

Written aftercare is given if a treatment goes ahead at a later visit. Bruising, swelling and a headache can happen. The doctor tells you what should settle and what should prompt a call to the clinic. If no treatment is advised, you still leave with a note of what was discussed and what to do if your situation changes.

Risks

Every procedure has risks, including bruising, swelling, asymmetry, headache and, rarely, a more serious complication. The doctor explains the risks that apply to you before any later treatment is booked. Nothing is described as painless, permanent or risk free. A consultation does not remove those risks, and it does not promise a particular look.

  • The consultation is not the treatment. No filler, lines and wrinkles, skin quality, collagen stimulator or platelet rich plasma treatment is performed at this visit.
  • Any treatment is arranged later, after a cooling off period.
